臺灣網球一姊謝淑薇在總獎金244.01萬美元(約7399.5萬台幣)、WTA巡迴賽次高超5級卡達公開賽單打雖無緣4強，雙打聯手中國名將彭帥繼續挺進，以6比2、6比4擊敗布莉亞裘珂／狄亞錢珂的烏克蘭、俄羅斯聯軍，挺進8強。
 

 
謝淑薇和彭帥名列大會第2種子。彭帥雙打世界排名積分落後並列球后義大利組合艾拉妮(S. Errani)／文西(R. Vinci)僅5分，此站只要成績好現任球后就能登基，謝淑薇則是2~5名都有可能。(王毓健)
