林務局東勢林區管理處積極推動造林植樹美化及減碳工作，配合臺中市政府客家事務委員會於14至16日，舉辦「2014年客庄十二大節慶-東勢新丁粄節」活動，在東勢客家文化園區前廣場，3天活動免費贈送樹苗共2000株。

包括「山櫻花」1000株及「臺灣肖楠」1000株，分6梯次贈送，贈送時間：14日上午10點、下午3點；15日上午10點、下午3點；16日上午10點、下午3點送完為止，歡迎民眾踴躍前往領取(上午送山櫻花、下午送臺灣肖楠)。

此外，東勢林區管理處現場設有兩個攤位，隨時教民眾「種樹小撇步」，提供種樹相關資訊，並舉辦林業知識有獎徵答活動，獎品豐富，歡迎大家共襄盛舉。前往領取苗木的民眾，請自備容器或提袋，大家一起來做環保小尖兵，共同減少溫室氣體排放、減緩地球暖化，讓生活中充滿綠意及歡喜。東勢林管處李炎壽處長呼籲大家身體力行一起來植樹，歡慶元宵節。
